Q&A Care Guide

How often should I wash my hair?

  • I suggest washing every 7-10 days

Do I dry my dreadlocks?

  • YES! Drying your locs after washing them is necessary.

  • Don't go to sleep with your locs wet or damp. It is important to make sure your dreadlocks are getting 110% dry the day you wash them.

How often should I palm roll my dreadlocks?

  • Implement palm rolling after your dreadlocks get wet, whether that's from washing them or swimming in water. This assists the hair loc'ing and forming together. Give them all the energy you desire!

What's the best way to sleep with dreadlocks?

  • I recommend sleeping with a Satin Night Cover and/or having a Satin Pillow Case.

  • A Satin Night Cover contains the dreadlocks together whilst preventing the locs from lint attaching to them.

  • A Satin Pillow Case also aids as a surface to help prevent lint from attaching to the locs without enclosing the locs as a sleep cover would.

  • The Loc'd Sleepers available upon request!

What do I do if my scalp is really itchy?

  • Almost all itchy scalps can be cured by simply washing and cleansing your scalp.

  • If you are experiencing itch from dry scalp use a **Natural Nourishing Roll-On Oil to give your scalp some nourishment.

  • If you are experiencing itch from tension soreness after maintenance use a *Natural Cooling Roll-On Oil.

  • If you are experiencing itch from sweat/perspiration build, oil/sebum build up, dirty/mineral build up use a *Natural Cleansing Scalp Spray  in between your washes.

Should I condition my dreadlocks?

  • I don't recommend using conditioner on locs as it is counterintuitive to the loc'ing process and tends to create excess build up.

  • Although, conditioning loose ends is necessary to keep them from loc'ing up. Just be very careful to not overlap the conditioner onto the body of the dreadlocks.

  • You could also use a lightweight Natural Hair Oil after washing instead of conditioner.

  • Be sure to apply when you hair is damp, and be cautious to not apply too much. Simply pumping a nickel to quarter size into your hands and dispersing from roots to ends is enough.

Should I use a salt spray on my dreadlocks?

  • A salt spray is not necessary, although it can be nice to further assist tightening your dreadlocks.

  • If you use a *Natural Salt Spray use sparingly and wash your locs frequently.

    Avoid application on your scalp.
